Special Entrance Examination for
Privately-Funded International Students Living Overseas

2025 Announcement of successful applicants​

Applications for this global admission will no longer be accepted after AY2025 Admission (application in October 2023).​



[Intended for (対象者)]
Individuals who must live overseas (outside Japan) for at least one year at the end of the application period, have received school education overseas (outside Japan) and have Japanese Language Proficiency Test Grade N1, N2, or equivalent.

*Individuals who passed this examination will take part in the preparatory education in Japanese language and other subjects for six months before enrolling in Osaka University.

Applicants must fulfill all requirements described in articles (1) to (3) of Section 2「出願資格」.

Applicants must choose one “School/Faculty”, “Department (Majors, Courses)” you wish to apply from the table below.


(Note)

¹Those who apply for the School of Foreign Studies, please choose one major.

²Those who apply for the School of Allied Health Sciences, Faculty of Medicine, Please choose one course.

*Those who apply for the School of Science, please refer to “International Undergraduate Program in Science“.

Application for the School of Science of the Special Entrance Examination for Privately-Funded Undergraduate International Students Living Overseas would not be acceptable since October 2019.

Important Dates
  • Application submission:October 2 – October 13, 2023, 17:00 (Japan standard time)
  • Selection of applicants:Late October, 2023 – late February, 2024 (an interview and a basic knowledge assessment will be held if necessary)
  • Announcement of selected applicants:March 29, 2024
  • Accepted applicants complete the enrollment process to the preparatory education in Japanese language and other subjects :Late May, 2024
  • The preparatory education in Japanese language and other subjects:October, 2024 – mid-March, 2025
  • Eligible applicants process the enrollment to the undergraduate school as a first-year student:Mid January, 2025
  • Enrollment as a 1st year undergraduate begins:April, 2025

How to pay the entrance examination fee

Applicants are encouraged to check the details noted below and pay the entrance examination fee by credit card or internet banking.

If you have an account in the designated online banking, you can use it from overseas.

2.Notes
  1. Payment can be made within the application period, but applicants need to send their application forms by mail after making payment. Therefore, please complete these procedures as soon as possible in consideration of the time it will take for mail delivery.
  2. When paying by credit card, the card holderʼs name does not have to be the same as the applicantʼs name. When a family member completes procedures on the applicantʼs behalf, place the applicantʼs information into the applicant information entry screen.
  3. Login to the webpage noted in the email you receive upon completion of payment and print two copies of the Payment Details. Enclose one copy when sending your application form and keep the other one as proof of payment.
  4. The entrance examination fee is not refundable except when:                 
    a.an application is incomplete, or the application is rejected.                 
    b.the entrance examination fee has been mistakenly paid more than once by an applicant.
                     
    The entrance examination fee is 26,800 JPY
                     
    ※Since an applicant must take entrance examinations to be enrolled as a “research student” in the preliminary and extensive Japanese language education program prior to being enrolled in an undergraduate school as an undergraduate student, the applicant must pay both the entrance examination fee for a research student (9,800 JPY) and the entrance examination fee for an undergraduate student (17,000 JPY).
                     
    Payment period: from Sunday, September 24, 2023 to Friday, October 13, 2023.

    Make sure to confirm procedures and notes on the screen page, and enter required information.

    Make sure to write down the receipt number (12 digits).
